Two gypsy vanners, one silver, one black, stood looking over the expansive land. The silver one took of at a gallop, running swifter than the wind.

"Freedom!" she cried. "Freedom from that accursed herd!"

Behind her, the black stallion shook his head. He should have stayed. After all, Coal was outsided, not him. The safety, the company. He was to be Lead Stallion when he grew up. Yet he had left it all. Why?

Looking at his sister streak through the meadow below him, Char knew. It was becuase he could never leave her, never abandon that fiery spirit. The mare who had stood up for what she believed in, to the point of loosing her herd. The mare who was as beautiful as the dawn. His other half.

Laughing, he raced after her, ready for all that came their way.
